The Place and Importance of Mediation in Legal Systems
Mediation is a method that enables the parties to reach an agreement with the help of a neutral third party in resolving disputes. Mediation is increasingly being adopted in legal systems to ease the burden on courts and develop peaceful solutions between parties. In Turkey, many disputes can be resolved without going to court through compulsory mediation practices. The advantages of mediation include quick resolution, low cost and the parties retaining control. However, for mediation to be effective, mediators must be well-trained and impartial.
